TORQUE: Fast & Furious with Motorcycles (Why It Failed)
In today's video, we look back on "TORQUE" (2004). Warner Brother's attempt at making "The Fast and the Furious" with motorcycles.
"Torque" (2004) is often described as "The Fast and the Furious" with motorcycles, but it failed to capture the same success. Directed by Joseph Kahn, this action-packed film starred Martin Henderson, Ice Cube, Monet Mazur, and Adam Scott. Despite featuring cool bikes, thrilling stunts, and intense chase scenes, "Torque" was universally panned. This video explores why "Torque" flopped so badly. Between studio interferance, script changes, and the vision the director had for the movie. It examines what went wrong in this infamous attempt to bring the street racing craze to the world of motorcycles. Whether you're a fan of "The Fast and the Furious" or just curious about movie flops, this video provides all the details on why "Torque" missed the mark.

Or they knew it was a dark comedy and tried their best to pass it off as a broad comedy (until people saw it and realized how different it was from Jim's other stuff).

Cable Guy was not a flop. Most people were a little confused because they were expecting another light-hearted Jim Carrey wild 'n wacky comedy but the movie still delivered. And Carrey was right about changing things up; not repeating himself. Taking comedy into a darker, psychotic direction was brave and imaginative at the time. The 90's was a mini-golden age for movies. Maybe Hollywood's final flowering.

If you actually watch the video, I go over how much I like the movie (it's one of my favorite Jim Carrey movies). But even Ben Stiller, Judd, and Jim said on the commentary that they had to lay low in the industry for a bit to let the dust settle on this movie. Everyone considered it a massive bomb or flop at the time, but its found an audience over the years.
